Let us not forget that no political or electoral system across the world is perfect. Our own may not be perfect, but we must give peace a chance. We cannot satisfy every single person or interest group.
Let us not forget also that in the interest of peace and justice, the Caretaker Committee has ensured that the following critical elements of our wellbeing as a people have been incorporated in the newly amended Eke Town Union Constitution that will be ratified by the General Assembly at the 26 December, 2025 Meeting. The Constitution is expected to take effect on January 1, 2026.
a) The office of the President General is now rotational to the extent that the village that produces the traditional ruler can equally produce the President General at the same time, if it is their turn to produce the President General. No more skipping or preventing the village that has the Igwe from producing the President General.
b) The idea of paying annual dues per head is cancelled. It will now be based on equal distribution of levies and dues per village.
c) The new constitution now adopts equal representation for the Representatives Council Meeting (10 members per village).
d) There are now provisions for Standing Committees on Education, Culture, Awards/ Recognition, Central Security, Development etc. There is also a provision for the Elders’ Council as the brain box, economic hub, think tank group and intellectual wing of the Town Union.
There are other interesting things in the amended constitution . So you can see that our philosophy is rooted in the universal principle of “greater happiness for the greater majority “( Enye ndi ebe a, enye ndi ebe a).
Eke must be great again!!!
