Hon Hyginus Agu Launches Udi Local Government Bursary Scheme

The Udi local government chairman, Engr. Hyginus Agu has launched the scholarship and bursary unit of Udi Local Government. This, according to him is aimed at empowering Udi students and the indigent studying in higher institutions – pay for their tuition and other fees.

The council Boss, understanding the stress students go through, with their sponsors to gather the funds for education, considers it a relief to establish the scheme that will see through education of Udi indigenes and indigents.

The purposeful Mayor’s initiative is in line with Gov. Peter Mbah’s crave for academic excellence and empowerment for Enugu indigenes, he also recognizes that many students studying in higher institutions of learning find it difficult to pay for tuition and other expenses, which usually pave way for crimes and other social vices such as prostitution among the females, viral fraudulent activities known as yahoo among males, in order to keep up with school expectations and related dues.

During the one day Launching ceremony of the scheme at the council headquarters, Engr. Hyginus Agu commended Gov. Peter Mbah for inspiring him through his initiatives towards an improved education system in Enugu State which has manifested through several means, such as the smart green school initiative, renovation of education facilities, improved academic and social environment, among other feats.

Agu urged Udi students and those with special need to take advantage of the opportunity that has been provided by his government as he continues to echo the “Tomorrow Is Here” mantra in Udi.
