The council Boss of Udi Local Government, Engr. Hyginus Ogbonna Agu is Redefining Governance in every nook and cranny of the Grassroot in Udi Local Government Area.
This is evident in the massive love shown by the people during the Easter celebration, which is one of his first yuletide since assumption of office.
Widely accepted by the people, this have made the people through various groups and organizations to pay the Mayor visits during the Easter celebration. This visits came with various songs of praises and lots of encouragement to the working Mayor, honoring his antecedents towards the well being of ndi Udi. Many have declared him one of the best for Udi so far, praising that he came with many positive vibes, just like Gov. Peter Mbah who is transforming Enugu State.
Recall that the widely accepted council Boss was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and inaugurated by Gov. Peter Mbah on 30th September, 2024.
Since assumption of office, barely 7 months ago, Hon. Hyginus Agu has continued to re-echo the tomorrow is here mantra in Udi Local Government Area by reciprocating the good initiatives of Gov. Peter Mbah in Udi Local Government.
For instance, the council chairman has beatified the entire council area, he has commenced the construction of the Mayor’s quarters in the council headquarters, he is completing projects initiated and commenced by former Chairmen to reduce the rate of abandoned projects, he has moved for the completion of the multi purpose hall in the council as continuity is the watch word of every purposeful leader, the revival of abandoned public facilities such as boreholes, road rehabilitation and constructions, Hon. Hyginus Agu has transformed Udi into a construction zone through partnership with the state, federal governments, leaders, organizations and individuals from the area.

Hon. Agu is operating an open door policy whereby every one is given audience and opportunity to visit or discuss with him, Agu is also responsive through phone calls, he didn’t change, by not attending to calls from constituents, during the height of insecurity in the area, even before being sworn in as the council chairman, he moved to crack-down the situation, a case of when he visited Eke Ward upon seeing their cries on a viral video, he, with relative security personnels including the 9th mile DPO who is in charge of the area visited Eke and security measures were put in place immediately, to curb the issue. Incessant kidnappings along Eke-Egede-Affa-Akpakwume road dropped drastically because measures were put in place by Engr. Agu.
