Eke Town Union Caretaker Committee Inaugurated And Charged To Uphold Unity In Eke
The newly appointed Caretaker Committee of Eke Town Union has been inaugurated and charged with the responsibility of upholding unity in Eke and creating a suitable atmosphere for a successful transition of government.
The inauguration was held at the office of the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government And Chieftain Affairs, Hon. Okey Ogbodo.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Hon. Commissioner sued for peace and unity, he charged the newly inaugurated caretaker committee with the responsibilities of driving development processes into the community, improving the lives of the rural dwellers, giving life to the community, harmonizing the community and paving way for a successful transition.
Though a short term assignment, speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ozo Prof. Chinedu Aguba assured that his team is equal to the task, however, he appealed for maximum support from the led and the environment, according to him, the people’s support will make their short term administration worthwhile.
He noted the three variables in leadership studies across the globe namely; the leader, the led and the environment, according to to him, these variables implies that; if the leader is focused and purpose-driven while the led are docile, complacent and anachronistic, then the leader can hardly achieve much. Same with when the environment is corrosive and unfriendly to the leader, therefore, effective leadership is essentially dependent on those three variables, He said.

While inviting the people to support their administration and submit memoranda that could foster development in Eke, Prof. Aguba assured Eke people that their tenure, as brief as it is will be impactful, purposeful, all inclusive, visionary and humane in all ramifications.
“Be it known that our Caretaker Committee is a child of necessity born out of the overwhelming desire of majority of our people for the enthronement of true constitutionalism and respect for the sanctity and reverence for the rule of law. Our tenure is brief but we assure you that it will be impactful, purposeful, all inclusive, visionary and humane in all ramifications. We will not do it alone. We appeal to all of you to join the train and be part of this amazing journey. We need your support. Individuals, groups and villages are hereby invited to send their Memoranda to me or the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee on how best to actualize the lofty dreams of our people”.
The people of Eke who reacted through various village, group leaders have expressed confidence and satisfaction in the processes which birthed the just inaugurated 5-man caretaker committee.
