Construction Of The Udi Chairman’s Lodge By Hon. Hyginus Agu Is In Full Progress
In line with the transformation and rehabilitation agenda of Engr. Hyginus Agu led administration, the council headquarters has been undergoing massive renovations, maintenance and beautification to aptly enhance the smooth running of day to day official activities and as well give the council headquarters a stunning look.
The council Boss had vowed to transform Udi Local government area into a modern status, he has since done this after he declared Udi a construction zone, during a constituency town hall meeting organized by Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, the speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly.
Engr. Hyginus Agu started his transformation projects immediately he assumed office as the local government chairman by fixing security threats in the area, reviving moribund projects, infrastructural development, construction, roofing, reinforcement and beautification within the council headquarters which was in a sorry state.
The council chairman, who is irrevocably focused in his rehabilitation and transformation agenda is equally constructing a state of the art Chairman’s Lodge in Udi council headquarters which has reached a reasonable stage and will be completed soon. This legacy project by the executive of Udi local government, Engr. Hyginus Agu is in line with Gov. Peter Mbah’s disruptive innovations while re-echoing the tomorrow is here mantra in Udi.
Constructing a local government chairman’s lodge within the council headquarters can offer several advantages, including serving as a base for incumbent Chairmen.
Primarily, it facilitates easier access to the office and allows the chairman to be readily available for meetings, consultations, and decision-making. It also creates a sense of proximity to the council staff and members, fostering a smoother flow of communication and coordination.

According to Engr. Agu during the project tour within the council headquarters, he appreciated Gov. Peter Mbah and Udi people for giving him the opportunity to serve the people as the council chairman, he re-echoed that following Gov. Peter Mbah’s “tomorrow is here” disruptive innovations has transformed the entire local government area.
In his exact words;
“From the inauguration of this administration by His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu state, we were determined to deliver dividends of democracy to our people, and my team swung into action with the zeal and determination to uplift the face of the council secretariat.
“The task of achieving our recent milestones hasn’t been easy, but with the encouragements from my pitical father. His Excellency the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the good people of Udi, and of course our trust in God, we are gradually arriving”.
Hon. Agu reeled out some of the scorecard of his administration and said the lodge will further enhance a heart to heart communication with the people, it will enhance the beauty of the environment, bring the presence of government to the area, reduce cost of governance, stressing that it will also go a long way to boost the economy and social activities of the area.
“As we all know, the main essence of local government is the development of an efficient democratic system of governance at the grass root level.
This implies a system of government that should be closer to the people, a system that is capable of managing local resources locally in a way that will help to raise the living standard of the citizens”, Agu said.
Recall that during the inauguration of 17 local government Chairmen in Enugu state on 30th September, 2024, Gov. Peter Mbah charged them to hit the ground running immediately, delivering people-centered projects and programs in line with their campaign promises. He also directed them to relocate to their council areas and live with there people in the grass roots enhancing leader-citizen relationship.
