Recall that the road was reconstructed by Gov. Peter Mbah, the reconstruction which commenced after a loud flag off ceremony at Eke Junction. The reconstruction restored the hopes of the actual users of the road. The flag off tagged the construction of the 44.8km Ama – Eke – Oghe – Iwollo – Olo – Umulokpa road traversing the Udi, Ezeagu and Uzo Uwani local government areas and also with a spur from Akama Oghe to Aguobuowa, the intention was to reopen the economic corridors of the state, according to Gov. Peter Mbah.
Performing the groundbreaking at Eke, Udi LGA, on Tuesday 29th October, 2024, Mbah stressed that the flag-off was also a symbolic event for the numerous other roads awarded in Enugu West Senatorial District, noting that beyond Umulokpa, his administration had equally awarded the contract to make it possible for the people to travel seamlessly from Adani and connect to Nsukka.
The broken road has cut Udi Local Government Area from Ezeagu local government area and other communities that share common interests, it has also caused crashes and cut off water supply to Eke, as the pipes supplying water which was passed under the road has been destroyed by water.
Other highlights of the tour includes, hand over ceremony, visitation to churches, homes and villages in Eke.
