It is with deep sense of responsibility and avowed commitment to the service of our community that I extend my unalloyed gratitude to all of you. Apart from the avalanche of phone calls, my phone has been inundated with congratulatory messages from various individuals in and outside Eke. The level of enthusiasm and attention that greeted the appointment of the 5-Man Caretaker Committee by the Government of Enugu State on the 17th July, 2025 has been massive and commendable.

There is no gain saying the fact that our assignment is largely tasking and tedious, especially when juxtaposed with the vagaries of push and pull factors that characterize our socio-cultural and political ecosystem. By and large, we are faced primarily with the core mandates of:

1. Restoring the public confidence of our people in the Town Union matters. It is not in doubt that the confidence level of our people regarding our town Union is at the lowest ebb.

2. Having a second look at the Constitution of Eke Town Union .

3. Sensitizing all the villages with a view to aligning with the philosophy and lofty ideals of Eke Town Union.

4. Charting genuine courses of actions that will engender rapid developmental strides in Eke.

5. Creating a fertile ground for impeccable electoral templates for a free, fair and credible election on the 26th December, 2025.

6. Ensuring a smooth transition to a new regime of democratically elected town union executives.

7. Putting in place security measures that can guarantee the safety and security of our lives and property

8. Providing pragmatic and transformational leadership models that can mitigate unforeseen challenges from time to time.

In spite of the humongous challenges identified above, I want to state unequivocally that the present newly inaugurated Caretaker Committee members are equal to the task. We shall succeed; we cannot afford to disappoint Ndi Eke; we have no option but to succeed and rekindle the spirit of brotherhood, liberty , prosperity and freedom in our people; we have already hit the ground running; we will never go back to Egypt again; we must reach the promised land. Never again in our history shall the rule of man be adopted in preference to the rule of law. Never again shall any man be above or below the rule of law in Eke. With the full support of every Eke indigene, we are poised to set a new standard of administration. We are committed to raising the bar for excellent and purposeful leadership.

However, we should be mindful of the three important variables in leadership studies across the globe, namely; the leader, the led and the environment. If the leader for example is focused and purpose-driven while the led are docile, complacent and anachronistic, then the leader can hardly achieve much. Same with when the environment is corrosive and unfriendly to the leader. So, effective leadership is essentially dependent on those three variables.

Eke is a beautiful town with amazing people. It is a town that is lavishly decorated and adorned with distinguished personalities who have carved their niche in the academia, business, politics, public service, religiosity, national economy, etc. Sadly, our town has in the recent times nosedived due to some security breaches that have mercilessly portrayed us in bad light. We must strategize, synchronize and synergies in order to eliminate all forms of dangerous drugs and criminalities from our beloved town.

May I at this juncture salute the unwavering commitment of Eke Progressives Forum (EPF) towards the development and security of Eke. We cannot thank enough the leader of EPF, Dr Uba Anichebe and the Director of Mobilization, Chief Dr Emeka Ude. EPF as an interventionist group has done so much for the good and happiness of our people. Eke town union shall continue to partner with the EPF. The following distinguished sons and daughters of Eke deserve some accolades for their immense contributions to EPF and other areas of Eke project as a whole: High Chief Sergius Aliozo( Okpokolani ), Prince Ephraim Magbo, Ozo John Amukenebe(Oji Ji Eri Ji), Chief Ambrose Nwankwo, Mr Osita Okechukwu, Mr Emeka Enechi, Mr Sunday Ude, Chief Sylvester Chiaha, Dr Florence Didiugu, Mrs Juliet Akaeze. The list is inexhaustible!!!

Special thanks to the traditional ruler of Eke, Igwe Harold Chiwendu Onuoha- Ezeoha 1 of Eke for his commitment towards the preservation of culture, traditions and security of Eke. The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Amankwo Eke Autonomous Community , Dr Steve Igweze deserves a note of appreciation for his enormous contributions to Eke.

In conclusion, be it known that our Caretaker Committee is a child of necessity born out of the overwhelming desire of majority of our people for the enthronement of true constitutionalism and respect for the sanctity and reverence for the rule of law. Our tenure is brief but we assure you that it will be impactful, purposeful, all inclusive, visionary and humane in all ramifications. We will not do it alone. We appeal to all of you to join the train and be part of this amazing journey. We need your support. Individuals, groups and villages are hereby invited to send their Memoranda to me or the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee on how best to actualize the lofty dreams of our people.

Long live Eke Oshie Aniugwu!
Long live Eke Town Union!!
Long live Amankwo Eke Autonomous Town Union!!!
