The people of Igbo-Eze North local government area has hailed their council chairman, Hon. Uche Ogalla over vital steps taken to step down issue of insecurity in the area.
In a post made by Ozo Ejike Okpe, in alliance with people of the area, they hailed the council boss for taking the local neighborhood watch to a greater level.

In Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu State, its Visionary Mayor, Hon. Engr. Uchenna Ogalla, the Executive Chairman of that one of the most populous LGAs in Nigeria, is blazing the trail in the area of security and community policing, redefining Neighbourhood Watch operations and giving it a new meaning, to the delight of the citizenry.
In a first-of-its-kind development, the Mayor, on Tuesday, the 18th of February, 2025 chatted a new course of action, responsibility and terms of reference for the Neighbourhood Watch Formation comprising twenty able bodied men drawn from each of the twenty electoral wards of the LGA.
In a training session held at the ageless headquarters of the Council, the members of the rejigged Formation were trained, fully sensitized on the activities of key government infrastructural developments in the LGA and dutifully deployed.
And in addition to the regular duties of the formation, the Igbo-Eze North LGA Neighbourhood Watch is, now, saddled with the responsibility of providing unbridled 24-hour, daily security services to the Primary Health Care Facilities in the LGA.
Hence, on a daily basis, each of the Primary Health Care Facilities, such as Health Centres, Health Posts, the upcoming Type 2 Hospitals, e.t.c, are to be manned by, at least, two Neighbourhood Watch operatives whose duties include ensuring the safety of lives and property within and around the facility.
However, this development which pioneers a new trend in Neighbourhood Watch operations in Igbo-Eze North LGA, if not Enugu State, is regarded, in many quarters, as another eloquent testimony of the Visionary Mayor’s, requisite capacity and capability to change the narratives positively in all fronts.
With the free drugs and equipment donated by the Mayor to all the Health facilities in Igbo-Eze North, recently, which verifiably upgraded their respective status, gatekeepers, stakeholders and health operatives in the various facilities can now go to sleep with two eyes closed as Mayor Ogalla’s new security initiative takes effect.
What is more, the visionary Mayor’s decision to disburse salaries to the Neighbourhood Watch operatives on their first day at work was one move that became a huge morale booster to the operatives, raising their morale to superlative measures and bringing the best out of the vibrant team.
Yet, worthy of commendation is the Visionary Mayor’s resolve to keep toeing the footsteps of his boss, His Excellency, Dr Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, whose revolutionary impact in the health sector of Enugu State is nothing short of legendary.
What Governor Mbah is doing in the health sector of Enugu State, Mayor Ogalla is replicating in his LGA of jurisdiction, endeavouring to be a requisite compliment to his boss, the Governor.
